An early-morning shooting incident Saturday sent one person to a hospital with a gunshot wound in the ankle.
The Columbus Police Department received a “shots fired” call at the Sprint Mart, located at 1313 Hwy. 69 S., at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a CPD press release. Upon arrival, officers found several vehicles had been hit with gunfire, as well as the front door of the business. No suspects or victims were located at the scene, authorities said.
Approximately 20 minutes later, a person identified by CPD only as a 23-year-old arrived at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. The person was treated for a gunshot wound to an ankle. CPD said the person was injured during the Sprint Mart shooting. Authorities released no other details.
The incident remains under investigation.
