The Butcher Shop is coming back.
The longtime Columbus business burned late last year. It has been closed since.
Bill Mason, the owner, told The Dispatch this week that concrete slabs have been poured for both a new building and a new parking lot. Construction will begin in roughly two weeks. The Butcher Shop will open for business three to four months after that. The new structure will be about 4,000 square feet.
Mason said when his business opens again it will offer the exact same services it did prior to closing. They may have new offerings, too.
The Butcher Shop will be located at 108 13th St. N., the same spot it was at for two-plus decades before the fire.
Mason said investigators discovered an electrical shortage started the Dec. 22 blaze.
Fast Dog Print Co. opened in Columbus this month.
The owner is Kelly Ervin. What she offers is direct to garment printing. She can do hoodies, sweatshirts, T-shirts — “any cotton material,” she said.
Ervin, a graphic designer, said her services are ideal for sports teams, family reunions, church groups, etc. Also: No order is too small or big. She will do one shirt or 100s.
Fast Dog Print Co. — named for Ervin’s Pembroke Welsh Corgi, “Bella” — does not have a brick-and-mortar location, but the plan is to open one in coming months. For now, orders can be placed at fastdogprintco.com or at the business’ Facebook page. The email address is [email protected].
(Full disclosure: Ervin has been a graphic designer at The Dispatch for about a year and a half.)
Lastly, Musselwhite’s Barber Shop is open at its new location at corner of Second Avenue North and Third Street North in Columbus.
The downtown barber shop was at 301 Main St. for about four years. In the fall, Zack Musselwhite, the owner, had a 1,200 square foot shop built at 228 Second Avenue North and he’s open for business there.
