A man was arrested for disorderly conduct at the Egg Bowl Saturday after he ran out onto the field, said Vance Rice, Chief of Police with the Mississippi State University Police Department.
Rice said it was the only unusual incident at the Egg Bowl in a night of average or below-average number of arrests.
Another man, who Rice said was intoxicated, was arrested for hitting a police officer. He went to jail for aggravated assault, Rice said. The officer was unharmed and returned to work on Sunday.
In total, MSU police made eight arrests at the Egg Bowl.
“That’s pretty low in my opinion,” Rice said.
That number is about the same as an average football game against the University of Alabama or Louisiana State University, Rice said.
“There’s always a few arrests made,” he said. “That’s nothing out of the ordinary.”
