TUPELO — The Tupelo Airport Authority will review the four airlines bidding to provide service and plans to have a recommendation by the end of the month.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the four companies hoping to get a federally subsidized contract are Air Choice One, Boutique Air, Corporate Flight Management and Sun Air.
And while the board and Tupelo Regional Airport Executive Director Cliff Nash appreciate the bids, they were disappointed that a legacy carrier or one of its subsidiaries did not submit a bid.
The four companies that did bid are smaller airlines serving as air taxis – the airlines fly the passengers to a hub for a price, but the passengers still must buy tickets to their final destination through a legacy airline like Delta, American or United.
