OCH Regional Medical Center is proud to welcome the newest physician to its medical staff. Allison Bennett, MD, joined the team of obstetricians/gynecologists at Starkville Clinic for Women this August and is now taking appointments. Dr. Bennett completed her residency this spring at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson where she earned her medical degree in 2011. In 2007, Dr. Bennett graduated
with honors from the University of Mississippi with a bachelor of arts in biology. “My grandfather was a family medicine doctor in Durant, and I grew up going to his office and always knew I wanted to be a doctor,” said Dr. Bennett. “It wasn’t until medical school that I fell in love with women’s health. I enjoy taking care of women throughout all the seasons of their lives, and I also like performing the procedures and surgeries that go along with this field of medicine,” she continued.
Dr. Bennett is trained on the da Vinci Robot and has special interests in contraception for women and in caring for adolescents. “When I came to tour OCH and the Clinic for Women, I immediately felt comfortable, and I knew Starkville was the right place for my family and me. The Clinic’s and the Medical Center’s facilities are beautiful, and I feel confident in the support system that both places provide for the physicians,” said Dr. Bennett.
During her residency, Dr. Bennett served at the Jackson Free Clinic. She is a member of the American Medical Association, Mississippi Medical Association and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She and her husband, Kris, have a two-year-old daughter, Abigail. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, tennis and running.
