Two juveniles were arrested Tuesday after allegedly stealing a car from a preschool, according to a press release from the Columbus Police Department.
Officers responded to Coleman Headstart, 722 22nd Street South, at around 8:30 a.m. after a vehicle was taken from the parking lot by two Black males. Witnesses told officers the suspects took off south down 22nd Street before turning left onto 10th Avenue South at a high speed.
Police later located the vehicle abandoned in the brush at the dead end of 10th Avenue South.
Witnesses recognized the suspects and identified them to investigators. Police found them shortly after the theft and arrested them.
Both were charged with taking of a motor vehicle. Their cases will be handled by Lowndes County Juvenile Court.
