Two Columbus men have been promoted at BankFirst Financial Services.
William Corder has been promoted to Central Mississippi regional president and James Hazard is moving up to community president. Both will work from the bank’s Columbus headquarters.
In his new role, Corder will take on leading the local Columbus, West Point, Macon and Newton markets while directing sales and service initiatives for the bank. Hazard will lead the local market while cultivating, developing and managing loan portfolios for the bank.
Having joined the BankFirst team in 2012, Corder holds more than 22 years of banking, lending and management experience. He is a graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Business and Industry with an emphasis on banking and finance, the Southern Methodist University ABA Commercial Lending School and Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking.
He is active in the community where he currently serves on the Board of Directors and Trust Board for the Golden Triangle Development LINK and as a board member for the Lowndes County Port Authority, the Golden Triangle Regional Solid Waste Management and the Columbus Arts Council.
Hazard has 12 years of banking, lending and management experience with about half of his career being with BankFirst. He graduated from Auburn University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also graduated from the South Eastern School of Advanced Commercial Lending in 2018 and from the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking in 2022.
Hazard also serves as board president of the Columbus-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, treasurer for the Columbus Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Foundation and a member of the Columbus Rotary Club.
