MABEN — A man is behind bars for fatally stabbing his nephew Friday on Highway 15.
Edward Bell, 49, is charged with first-degree murder following an altercation with William Lamont Bell, 40, authorities said.
Deputies were called to a report of a fight in progress, according to an Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office press release. When they arrived, they found William Bell suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead.
Edward Bell, the victim’s uncle, was arrested at the scene, Capt. Brett Watson told The Dispatch. He is being held in Oktibbeha County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
