Columbus police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that sent three people to the hospital Sunday evening.
Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton said his department was notified by Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle at 9:38 p.m. Sunday that three people had arrived in the hospital’s emergency room with gunshot wounds.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a car wash on Alabama Street at around 9 p.m., Shelton said.
“We believe all three people were shot by the same person and that there may have been an exchange of gunfire, but that’s still being investigated,” Shelton said.
Shelton said the suspect was known to the victims.
“We have identified a suspect and are collecting evidence,” Shelton said. “We believe two of the victims have been released and another had surgery Sunday night, but we’re still trying to confirm all that.”
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Columbus Police Department at 662-244-3500, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or leave an anonymous tip through the P3 Tips mobile. Tips through Crime Stoppers are always anonymous and are eligible for a cash reward.
