The warming shelter at Propst Park will reopen tonight, Mayor Keith Gaskin announced during his Wednesday press conference.
Temperatures are forecast to drop into the 20s and even the teens over the next several nights.
The Golden Triangle Regional Homeless Coalition, in partnership with the city’s community outreach program, is operating the shelter. It will be at the old recreation center, which is at the back of the park, behind the VFW hut, Gaskin said.
It will open from 5 p.m. until 9 a.m.
“It will stay open (daily) until the cold weather passes,” Gaskin said.
For more information call the Golden Triangle Regional Homeless Coalition hotline at 662-549-2643.
The shelter was opened earlier this month during a similar snap of very cold weather.
