Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a suspect on multiple felony charges after he fled officers on Friday.
Justin Contrell Hairston faces charges of trafficking cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, assaulting a police officer, felony fleeing, felon in possession of a firearm and multiple traffic violations, according to a LCSO press release issued Tuesday.
Narcotics officers, working from a tip of illegal drug activity, attempted to stop a vehicle in Southside Columbus on Friday. A pursuit ensued where officers hemmed the suspect into a parking lot, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told The Dispatch. The suspect, later identified as Hairston, drove out of the parking lot, however, ramming an officer’s vehicle in the process.
Hairston crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Fifth Street and 14th Avenue South and fled on foot.
Officers apprehended a 15-year-old passenger at the scene of the crash. In the vehicle, they found 114 grams of crack cocaine, 118 grams of marijuana and a handgun, the press release said.
Anyone with information on Hairston’s whereabouts is asked to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or submit an anonymous tip through the P3 Tips app.
