Mississippi University for Women started its “Be Wise to Win” incentive program, which encourages all campus community members to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
“We can protect ourselves and each other by being fully vaccinated, properly wearing our face masks and physical distancing,” said university president Nora Miller. “Vaccinate, be wise and get a chance to win a prize!”
The incentives are open to fully or partially vaccinated W students who are currently enrolled for fall 2021 and benefits-eligible W employees who are fully or partially vaccinated. Individuals who are not fully or partially vaccinated at the beginning of the contest may enter once they receive at least one dose of a vaccine.
Weekly drawings for prizes will begin held at noon Sept. 2, 10, 17 and 24. To enter the contest, visit www.muw.edu/bewise.
For weeks 1-3, COVID-19 vaccinated students are eligible to enter drawings for $200 in Sodexo Flex Credit, $200 in Bookstore Credit or a 40-inch Vizio Smart TV.
For week 4, the program will include drawings for tuition credit, green space parking privileges, a 40-inch Vizio Smart TV, $200 in Sodexo Flex Credit and $200 in Bookstore Credit.
COVID-19 vaccinated employees are eligible weekly drawings. The weekly prizes include AirPods Pro, $200 Sodexo Flex Credit, $200 in bookstore credit, gift cards valued at $200, a Fitbit Charge 4, a Nintendo Switch bundle, and gift certificates for local restaurants.
Individuals who cannot be vaccinated due to medical conditions or sincere religious objections may fill out an exemption/declination form and also be entered to win prizes.
The university is also offering a $500 residence hall credit to fully vaccinated students living on-campus. Qualified students must submit proof of vaccination to the Office of House and Residence Life in order to receive the credit.
Vaccines are not required for the campus community but are strongly encouraged. The W requires face coverings for everyone indoors, except when alone in a personal space, regardless of vaccination status.
