The suspect in a shooting that claimed the life of a Monroe County man Saturday morning was apprehended after a vehicle pursuit between Amory and Columbus, according to a Facebook post by the Amory Police Department.
Menderil Malquette Juven Cohen, 29, of Amory is charged with murder after he allegedly shot a coworker at about 3:32 a.m. at the True Temper Sports manufacturing plant in Amory, said Lt. Andy Long with Amory Police Department.
A pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended with Cohen’s arrest near the 1300 block of 20th Street North in Columbus.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, in an email, identified the shooting victim as Michael Randle, 46, of Columbus. Randle was airlifted from North Mississippi Medical Center Gilmore-Amory to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he was pronounced dead at 6:38 a.m. Saturday.
Long did not release any details of what precipitated the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation. Cohen is being held in Monroe County Jail. Bond has not been set.
Amory Police were assisted by the Monroe and Lowndes County’s Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Police and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
