A Columbus man faces multiple charges from two counties after a car chase with Lowndes County deputies last week.
Charles Fisher Jr., 45, was wanted for three counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping in Calhoun County when law enforcement officers from U.S. Marshal’s Task Force and Columbus-Lowndes Joint Narcotics Task Force attempted to pull him over Thursday on Highway 45 South near Fire Tower Road, according to a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office press release Tuesday.
Fisher led officers on a 12-mile chase in the southern part of the county before law enforcement disabled his vehicle by deploying road spikes on Gilmer Wilburn Road.
Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said Fisher kidnapped a woman and two children from Calhoun County and took them to Lowndes early last week. In addition to the kidnapping and armed robbery charges, Lowndes County authorities plan to present the case to a Lowndes grand jury to determine if Fisher should face local charges.
Fisher was turned over to Calhoun County Jail and released Monday on $250,000 bond.
