Starkville police do not suspect foul play in the death of a teen whose body was found behind Sudduth Elementary on Tuesday.
In a text to The Dispatch Wednesday afternoon, Starkville Police Department Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said all indications were the teen’s death was self-inflicted.
Police issued a welfare concern notice on a 16-year-old male Tuesday morning, warning that he possibly had a weapon. Officers later found his remains behind the school near Evergreen Street.
Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District officials enacted “shelter-in-place” protocols during the search at its Sudduth, Henderson Ward Stewart and Emerson Family School campuses.
