WEST POINT — Police are searching for the suspect in a weekend shooting downtown that sent one person to the hospital.
Officers responded to a disturbance call at South Division Street business Jalyn’s Bar and Grill just before 1 a.m. Sunday, according to a press release posted to West Point Police Department’s Facebook page. Upon arrival, they learned there had been a shooting in the parking lot behind the restaurant.
One female victim was treated for injuries and released from North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point, the press release said, while some surrounding businesses received damage.
The press release described the suspect as a Black male in a blue hat and T-shirt.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call WPPD at 662-494-1244 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
