Everyone has had to adapt and be flexible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sometimes you have to just go with the flow and roll with the punches in times like these.
That’s exactly what Ryan Munson, owner of Munson and Brothers in Columbus, has been doing during these trying times.
Though Munson had hopes to expand into retail in Tupelo, COVID-19 quickly put a halt to those plans. With money raised to expand, Munson saw an opportunity to add a new outdoor spot to downtown Columbus.
The Munson and Brothers Beer Garden, 301 Second Ave. N., will hopefully open Oct. 2 with live music from Memphis, Tennessee.
“The beer (garden) was just another way to continue our culture and grow but it was not our intention,” Munson said. “You gotta be flexible and grow the best way that you can.”
The beer garden will offer customers an outdoor family-friendly environment with games to keep the kids having fun and craft beers for the adults. Munson said the hours are not definitive yet, but said he’ll likely close shop early to keep a wholesome environment.
Be sure to keep up with Munson and Brothers and check out their social media for updates. The patio for the garden is up and preparing for the October opening. For Munson, this new business venture has been nothing short of a silver lining during a difficult time.
“There’s been a lot of excitement about the idea of doing this,” Munson said. “Everybody I’ve talked to about this, they kind of light up when they see what we’ve done so far. COVID has been hard on a lot of people but there’s always a lot of blessings that come out of bad times, so this has definitely been a blessing to us.”
The business news continues in Columbus.
