Tickets are on sale for showings of “The Wonder Grove Wizard of Oz” at the Malco Theater in Columbus.
The feature-length animated film premiers Jan. 15 and includes original animated sequences created by students across the U.S., including Stokes-Beard Elementary and Columbus Middle School.
There will be four showtimes for the film locally, including 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and 22. Admission is $5 and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Columbus Municipal School District is one of 98 districts in the country using Story Maker, a platform that teaches students to build animated stories. Hollywood-based Wonder Media, the platform’s maker, is run by Terry Thoren, creator of such animated series as “Rugrats” and “The Wild Thornberrys.”
Tickets for The Wonder Grove Wizard of Oz can be purchased through Eventbrite or through the school district’s website, www.columbuscityschools.org.
