Columbus police have arrested a 17-year-old for the fatal shooting of a teenage girl at a city park late Saturday night.
Curtis Lathan, of 10th Avenue South, has been charged with murder, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. Lathan is accused of shooting Arykah Price White, 16, during a birthday party at Propst Park at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities said the shooting occurred when a fight began at the party. During the fight, Lathan allegedly shot into a crowd outside the park’s community center, hitting White.
Lathan was denied bond, according to the press release.
