Four of the 10 candidates for local county offices who failed to submit campaign finance reports by the first reporting period deadline Friday turned their reports in to the Lowndes County Circuit Clerk’s Office on Monday.
Of the four candidates, Chris Griffin, a Republican contender for District 1 constable, received the most in campaign contributions, at $1,000. He has spent $583.22, leaving him with $416.78.
Lowndes County Chancery Clerk candidate Andre Roberts, a Republican, did not raise or spend any money during the reporting period, according to his filings with the circuit clerk’s office. He has $879 cash on hand.
William Starks, a Democrat running for prosecuting attorney, has not raised or spent any money for his campaign, according to his filings.
Democrat Sonny Sanders, who is running for District 3 constable, has not raised or spent any money because he is running unopposed. His filings with the circuit clerk’s office said his campaign will no longer accept contributions or make expenditures.
Candidates who failed to submit campaign finance reports as of Monday afternoon include Democrat Joseph Mickens, running for chancery clerk; Democrat Oliver Miller, District 2 supervisor; Democrat incumbent Leroy Brooks, District 5 supervisor; Republican Sherman Vaughn, tax assessor/collector; Republican Corky Smith, prosecuting attorney; and incumbent Greg Merchant, coroner (unopposed).
