LACKEY — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are investigating separate shootings that have claimed two lives.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said just before 6 p.m. Thursday there were two related shootings but he couldn’t release any further information. Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley confirmed the two deaths and said more information would be released later. The victims’ identities have not been released.
The MBI says a man was killed following an officer-involved shooting near McDuffie Cemetery Road. Authorities say the second shooting happened alongside Old Columbus Road.
MBI, per its policy, has not released the name of the officer involved.
