A fire destroyed a house on Mt. Olive Road in Oktibbeha County early Tuesday.
Oktibbeha County Fire Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan said the fire started at 4:18 a.m. near the intersection of Mt. Olive Road and Oktoc Road.
No injuries were reported in Tuesday’s fire, though Rosenhan confirmed the structure was a total loss. He said the District 5 and East Oktibbeha County volunteer fire departments responded to the blaze.
Mississippi State University Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter confirmed that one of the house’s occupants is a university student. He said MSU’s Office of Student Affairs has the student in temporary housing.
The fire remains under investigation, and a cause has not yet been determined.
