A Columbus man has been jailed for allegedly hitting someone in the head with a pipe.
Deputies with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brian Hines, Jr., 27, of 2008 O’Leary Lane, last week for aggravated assault manifesting in extreme indifference to life.
According to a LCSO initial report, the arrest stemmed from a July 27 incident on Gun Shoot Road. The victim told deputies he had been picking tomatoes from his garden when Hines hit him in the back of the head with a pipe. The victim yelled for help and Hines ran off toward Gun Shoot Road.
The victim told deputies who arrived at the scene that Hines had been armed with a handgun that had a silencer on the end of it. He added it was the second time in two days Hines had attacked him “for no reason.”
The initial report says the victim was bleeding from the head when deputies arrived at the scene. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Hines’ bond has been set at $10,000.
