A man is in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after he reportedly strangled a woman.
Deputies with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Desmond Alonzo Brooks, 26, of 2420 Washington Ave., on Monday for a domestic violence incident that occurred on April 11, according to a LCSO press release.
Deputies had responded to the April 11 on Yorkville Road to find a female victim who reported Brooks had strangled her to the point she thought she would pass out. The press release said she was having so much trouble talking she had to communicate with officers by writing.
Brooks had already left the scene by the time deputies arrived.
When deputies arrested him Monday, Brooks was charged with domestic violence aggravated assault by strangulation, a felony offense. His is currently in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
