A woman from Bruce is in jail after Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested her for abusing a vulnerable adult.
OCSO Lt. Brett Watson said investigators, with assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, took Alecia Haney, 36, into custody Friday on suspicion of felonious infliction of physical pain or injury on a vulnerable person.
Watson said Haney was a private caregiver who was hired to care for her alleged victim at a private residence. Investigators made the arrest after the victim’s family installed a security system, which recorded instances of abuse on Thursday, Watson said.
He said the victim was a female about 60 years old, and Haney allegedly shoved the victim hard enough to cause her to fall and injure her leg. The victim was treated at OCH Regional Medical Center and has been released.
Haney was booked into the Oktibbeha County Jail. She was still in jail on $50,000 bond as of Saturday morning.
