Dispatch reporter Isabelle Altman has been promoted to news editor.
In that position, she will work directly with the managing editor in preparing and editing content for each day’s edition, as well as maintain her reporting duties. Her promotion took effect Monday.
Altman, 25, joined The Dispatch as a newsroom intern in January 2015, becoming a full-time reporter three months later covering breaking news. Her reporting beat now includes police and courts, along with breaking news and occasional features.
“I’m very excited to work as news editor at The Dispatch,” she said. “Almost everything I know about how to be a news reporter I learned here, and I’m looking forward to taking on my new role.”
A 2014 graduate of American University in Washington, D.C., Altman holds a bachelor’s degree in history. She’s also no stranger to the Golden Triangle, having lived in Columbus for eight years of her childhood.
“Her journey from untrained intern to the journalist she is today is nothing short of impressive, and she made that leap primarily because she didn’t accept anything less from herself,” Managing Editor Zack Plair said. “Isabelle is incredibly determined, cares about the people of this community and works well with the newsroom staff. To say I respect what she’s done here already would be an understatement. I believe her best is yet to come.”
