The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $2,500 award in an effort to help the Columbus Police Department apprehend those responsible for a series of burglaries at a Columbus Pawn Shop.
The reward will go to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspects who burglarized Possum Town Pawn Shop twice over the past year and attempted to burglarize the shop again Tuesday.
CPD officers responded to a burglary alarm at the shop, located at 618 Alabama St., at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday. The would-be burglar or burglars did not gain entrance to the building and no suspects were spotted at or near the scene.
According to Capt. Brent Swan of CPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit, two black males entered the shop on Oct. 13, 2016, stealing approximately six handguns. On July 30, two black males entered the shop and stole about nine handguns.
Anyone with information on the burglaries or the location of any of the stolen handguns should contact CPD at 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
