A Columbus man is behind bars for allegedly having sexual relations with a child under 16.
Officers with the Columbus Police Department arrested Boris Kamarieo Brown, 37, of 1223 18th St. North, in north Columbus Monday morning. Brown was charged with statutory rape and violation of parole.
The charge stems from an August 10 incident in which police responded to a call at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle about a sexual assault, according to a press release from CPD. The assault victim, a child under 16, had been at Brown’s home when Brown had a “sexual relationship” with her. When the victim’s parents learned what happened, they took their child to the hospital.
Brown and the victim knew each other, according to the release.
Brown is currently being held without bond at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center because of a parole violation from the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Brown is on parole from a 2012 cocaine possession charge, according to MDOC’s website.
