A Columbus man arrested in connection with a July 19 home invasion robbery and shooting was extradited to Lowndes County Wednesday.
Tommie Lee Deloach Jr., 21, of 246 Poplar St. in Columbus is now behind bars in Lowndes County Adult Detention Center for three counts each of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Deloach and two other suspects allegedly invaded a Lowndes County home, shot one person and attacked two others on July 19. He and the other suspects fled the scene before authorities could take them into custody.
Deputies in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, arrested Deloach on July 24 on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a stolen weapon, armed robbery and as a fugitive from justice.
“He was being held on unrelated charges in Tennessee and they alerted us that he was in custody,” said Marc Miley, Chief Deputy with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. “We went there and interviewed him and brought him back Wednesday.”
Miley said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
The shooting victim was visiting a residence on Tabernacle Road on July 19 when the three suspects invaded the home, LCSO Capt. Ryan Rickert told The Dispatch on July 20.
The shooting victim was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a serious gunshot wound.
“The victim was in the hospital for several days, but he’s back home now,” Miley said Thursday.
Deloach’s bond is set at $300,000.
