A West Point man was arrested after he walked up to a deputy and asked for a ride — while having ice methamphetamines on his person.
Agents with the Lowndes County Narcotics Task Force arrested John T. Roach Jr, 23, Sunday on Highway 373 after a deputy with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office contacted them about a suspect with drugs, according to a press release from the task force.
The deputy was parked on the side of the highway when Roach walked up to the deputy’s car and asked for a ride. The deputy agreed but decided to check Roach for weapons just to be safe. During the check, he found the narcotics on Roach’s person.
Roach was charged with possession of methamphetamines.
