A former member of the Carrollton City Council in Alabama was sentenced to life in prison last week for molesting children, according to a press release from Pickens County District Attorney Chris McCool’s office.
On Dec. 13, a jury in the Pickens County Circuit Court convicted Timothy C. Strickland of two counts of sodomy in the first degree of a child, three counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and one count of enticing a child for immoral purposes.
In 2015, when Strickland was still a council member, a grand jury indicted Strickland for molesting two girls under the age of 14. Evidence presented at the trial suggested the girls were no older than 6 years old when the abuse Strickland was convicted for began, the press release said.
The Tuscaloosa News reported that Strickland is 58 years old.
Strickland is currently in custody at the Pickens County Jail.
