The Starkville Police Department is investigating the recent burglary of Mayor Parker Wiseman’s Longmeadow home.
Wiseman confirmed the incident to The Dispatch Friday and said the break-in occurred sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
He and his family were at home at the time but were not aware of the intruder. At least two purses and a wallet were stolen, Wiseman said.
“It’s a creepy feeling once you realize what happened,” he said. “It’s also a good reminder of how important it is to be diligent with home safety practices, such as keeping doors locked and property secure. We are extremely grateful for the dedicated work of the police officers that have investigated the case. They have been extremely professional and reassuring during this difficult time for our household.”
SPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
