The Starkville Police Department is looking for a Brooksville man who escaped from the back of a patrol car after a Saturday traffic stop.
Andre Taylor, 29, was detained after the vehicle he was traveling in was pulled over for driving the wrong way on Maxwell Street.
Taylor escaped SPD custody while officers were speaking with the driver and searching the vehicle.
Officers initiated a foot pursuit but were unable to catch up with Taylor.
Starkville Municipal Court issued warrants on Taylor Monday for escape, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule IV substance and petit larceny, for a total bond of $17,500.
Taylor has ties to both Brooksville and Starkville, SPD said in a release, and the department urges him to turn himself in to authorities.
Anyone with any information into these or other cases is asked to contact SPD at 662-323-4131 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
