A Missouri man is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly setting his girlfriend on fire.
Eric Brown, 47, of 5521 Albia Terrance in St. Louis, was arrested Tuesday by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Brown’s arrest came a week after he allegedly used some form of liquid accelerant to light his girlfriend on fire. The woman has been hospitalized with multiple third degree burns, according to LCSO Capt. Ryan Rickert.
Authorities received a call about 1:30 a.m. on May 31 regarding a woman that had been burned on Nashville Ferry Road. She was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle first, then to another hospital. Due to her injuries, it was several days before she was able to give a statement to law enforcement, according to Rickert said.
The woman is expected to recover, Rickert said.
Brown’s bond has been set at $50,000.
