Local law enforcement agents arrested an off-duty McDonald’s employee accused of robbing the 817 Highway 12 restaurant at gunpoint last week.
Starkville Police Department tactical officers and U.S. Marshal Task Force agents took Jawan Hooper, 24, of Starkville, into custody Monday after he arrived at work.
Although SPD’s investigation is ongoing, a press release said investigators allege Hooper is responsible for the incident.
He was charged with armed robbery. His bond was set at $25,000.
Hooper was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail. His initial appearance in Starkville Municipal Court is scheduled for 2 p.m. today.
Starkville officers also arrested a 17-year-old male Tuesday, who allegedly broke into the Sportsplex Recreation Center last week and took several cellphones and cash.
The juvenile was released to his parents.
SPD routinely does not release the names of minors involved in arrests.
Anyone with information about these and any other crimes are asked to contact SPD at 662-323-4131 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151.
