The Department of Health and Kinesiology at Mississippi University for Women will host its annual community health fair, which will feature more than 50 vendors.
The health fair is scheduled for Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. until noon in the Pohl Gymnasium. This year’s theme is “Recommitting to Our Own Health and Wellness.”
There will be various health and fitness screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, vision, fitness testing, bone density (for women ages 35 and up), body mass index, hip/waist ratio, height/weight and hearing testing. A cholesterol screening is available for a fee of $12.50. Also, there will be a PSA blood test for men for $20. Fasting after midnight is required for the blood sugar and cholesterol test results to be valuable.
In addition to the health screenings, vendors will provide health and wellness information. Mississippi Blood will conduct a blood drive to help fulfill the state’s blood shortage.
For additional information, please contact the Department of Health and Kinesiology at 662-329-7225. The Emma Ody Pohl Building is located on Sixth Avenue South between 10th and 11th Streets South.
