A two-vehicle crash Monday night near the Alabama border on Highway 12 resulted in the death of one man and serious injury to another.
Charles Hill, 49, of Vernon, Alabama, was airlifted from the scene to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he died from his injuries, according to a Mississippi Highway Patrol media release.
MHP officers responded to the crash which occurred about 5:20 p.m. Monday. The crash occurred when a yellow Ford Escapade — driven by Hill — traveling west entered the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a black Dodge Ram, according to MHP.
Alan Reed, 63, of Beaverton, Alabama, was the driver of the Dodge. He was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus before later being airlifted to NMMC in Tupelo. as well.
