A Columbus man is in Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office custody after he turned himself in on a suspected rape.
Willie Morton, 32, is accused of raping a juvenile sometime last weekend, according to LSCO Capt. Ryan Rickert. He has been charged with statutory rape.
Rickert said the victim reported the alleged rape when she got to school on Monday. Morton turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday.
Rickert did not say where authorities believe the rape happened.
Morton is being held on $25,000 bond.
