Though it has been open since 1988, there is something new about Image Maker Hair Salon in West Point.
Tammy Parkerson, the owner, has renovated the West Broad Street salon. She’s updated the product lines she carries, too.
“We wanted to stay up with the times,” she told The Dispath this week. “Things change and we wanted to be prepared and get ready, so we can offer the best we can.”
Image Maker Hair Salon held a ribbon cutting and open house Wednesday to introduce the new look.
The salon opens at 9 a.m., Monday through Friday. It is open on Saturday by appointment. To make one, call 662-494-7250.
The salon employs three stylists. Parkerson is looking to hire two more.
In Columbus, remember when we told you WHEREhouse Dance Company was moving from 404 Main St. to the old Elks Lodge at 309 Main St.? Well the move becomes official at 6 p.m. Saturday, when Kristen Buntin, the owner, will host an open house.
Staying in Columbus, have you heard of Steele Roses?
It is a pole dance boutique located at 454 Wilkins Wise Road. It opened in the fall of 2013.
The owner is Loren Seres, a Crossfit enthusiast who discovered pole dancing several years ago and became intrigued with its fitness aspects. It is an activity that tones and strengthens practitioners, much like ballet, Seres said.
The atmosphere at Steele Roses is one of positive camarederie and support.
“I’m here helping women feel better about themselves,” Seres said.
She said women of all ages, shape and body weight can benefit from what the business, which employs four certified trainers, offers. “Be strong, be fit, be beautiful,” its website states.
It is open from 5 to 8 p.m. throughout the week, and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. You can sign up for a membership or stop in on one class. It is also available for bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc.
