Gunshots rang out Wednesday evening near the 1300 block of Fifth Street South and 15th Avenue South in Columbus.
No one knows how many shots were fired or what type of weapon was responsible. The Columbus Police Department continues to investigate. No arrests have been made. No one was injured.
The shooting took place in a residential area of Southside, in front of the Housing Authority building, about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Capt. Fred Shelton with CPD.
Southside residents who live near the area took to Facebook to warn others about the gunshots, which were described as “extremely loud.” They were listening to scanners, trying to track the incident and stay out of harm’s way.
“That’s so sad, but this gotta be stopped,” one person posted.
Another posted: “I understand no place is safe, but geesh I live on Southside.”
Another: “I had to run and get my son out of his bed.”
Another: “I’m calling momma worried.”
Another: “Praying.”
And: “Jesus just cover us all is my prayer.”
