United Way of Lowndes County announced this morning that Renee Sanders has been hired as its new volunteer center director following Leslie Peel’s retirement in April, according to a press release.
Sanders has 18 years work experience in the education field as a college course instructor and employee of East Mississippi Community College, the release states. She worked in a student-support capacity at EMCC and served as a United Way campaign coordinator at the college, as well.
Sanders has an undergraduate degree from Jackson State University and a masters from Mississippi University for Women. In addition to teaching college level courses, Sanders is a fitness instructor.
“We are pleased to have Mrs. Sanders on board, and look forward to serving Lowndes County residents and organizations well with her at the helm of the volunteer center,” the press release from United Way said.
Peel held the position for nearly three years.
Sanders could not be reached for comment.
