A Columbus man was arrested in Starkville after a traffic stop and subsequent search led to the discovery of drugs and a weapon.
Starkville Police Department charged 25-year-old Marcos Deshaw Felton, no address listed, with three felony charges — possession of marijuana, cocaine and a stolen firearm — and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
Officers noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from Felton’s vehicle after he was stopped for speeding, an SPD release states. While searching the vehicles, officers discovered a large amount of marijuana and cocaine; a small amount of Xanax in an unmarked prescription bottle; and a pistol reportedly stolen from Georgia.
Felton’s bond was set at $5,000.
The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call SPD at 662-323-4134.
