The Columbus Exchange Club’s annual Wisconsin cheese and summer sausage fundraiser will have a booth set up on designated dates and times beginning Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Belk Department Store on Highway 45 North. Proceeds benefit nonprofit organizations that provide for children in Lowndes County.
Local entities supported include Girl Scouts, Columbus Girlchoir, Safe Haven, Sally Kate Winters Family Services, Life Choices Pregnancy Center, the Columbus Arts Council, Contact Helpline, Camp Rising Sun, the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, HEARTS After School Tutoring Program, Boy Scouts and Father’s Child Ministry.
In addition to Saturday, the service club will also set up at Belk Nov. 28 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and at Wassail Fest in downtown Columbus Dec. 5 from 5-8 p.m. Email requests for cheeses may be sent to [email protected]. The Exchange Club will reply and coordinate local delivery arrangements.
Sharp and extra sharp cheddar cheeses are $13 per 2-pound block. Pepper Jack cheese and summer sausage are $6 per 12-ounce package.
Exchange Club is a national service organization for men and women who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills and enjoy new friendships. Programs of service include Americanism, Child Abuse Prevention, Youth Projects and Community Service. There are almost 800 clubs and more than 25,000 members throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
