A Caledonia man has been arrested and charged with embezzling from a local veteran’s association.
Charles Underhill, 69, of 99 Nancy Dr., was arrested Oct. 15 and charged with one count of felony embezzlement.
According to Columbus Police Department Captain Brent Swan, Underhill embezzled $3,500 from the local Vietnam Veteran’s of America chapter where he served as the organization’s treasurer.
The organization discovered the missing funds and Underhill resigned as treasurer, Swan said. An affidavit was then filed and Underhill was arrested.
He received a $5,000 surety bond. He bonded out of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center the same day as his arrest.
