ABERDEEN — Former Lee County pharmacist Jim Bain has pleaded guilty to illegally distributing the pain killer hydrocodone.
The 60-year-old Bain entered the plea Monday in federal court in Aberdeen. Bain pleaded guilty to a one-count information, which is a charge from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors say Bain was caught on a 2012 video selling hydrocodone to an individual on his pharmacy business premises after hours without a prescription.
Bain sold his Tupelo North pharmacy in 2011 and surrendered his pharmacist’s license in February 2012 after an audit of his narcotics supplies prompted an investigation by state and federal agencies.
Shortly thereafter, he resigned his position on the Lee County School B
Bain faces up to 10 years in prison and a $500,000 fine. Sentencing will be next year.
