Former Columbus Municipal School Superintendent Martha Liddell’s termination hearing has been rescheduled for the second time.
Liddell’s hearing, scheduled to take place Wednesday morning at the courthouse, was rescheduled due to the fact that her attorney was out of town. Liddell is represented by local attorney Wil Colom, who is out of the country and could not attend the hearing.
The Columbus school board voted to extend the hearing for another “one to three weeks.”
Liddell’s original termination hearing was scheduled for Sept. 23 but was rescheduled when her then attorney Austin Vollor, of Starkville, resigned from her case.
Liddell was fired in a 3-2 school board vote in June after The Dispatch reported she used CMSD funds to pay for a private party for her family, friends and business acquaintances at the Trotter Convention Center in December. The party cost the district $447.51.
Liddell reimbursed the district using personal checks. On June 21, Liddell filed a lawsuit against the district suing for reinstatement. The case was dismissed July 11 by Judge Kenneth Burns due to the fact that Liddell had not yet had her termination hearing.
A new termination hearing date has been set.
