The Lowndes County School Board will consider moving its monthly morning meetings to the afternoon. The idea was presented by board member Jacqueline Gray during Friday’s regular meeting. Gray said she felt the public would be more inclined to attend if the meetings were moved to 5:30 p.m. The meetings currently take place every second Friday at 11 a.m.
Member Dr. Wes Barrett seconded the motion but board member Jane Kilgore moved to table the motion until the August meeting, noting board member Brian Clark’s absence.
The motion to table passed unanimously. It will be discussed again in August.
In other news, the board decided to table the issue regarding the highest bid for the oil and gas lease of 16th Section land owned by the district.
They board will discuss the matter again at their August meeting.
