Challenger Marty Turner appears to have beaten incumbent Fred Stewart in the run-off for the Ward 4 councilman seat in Columbus but 21 affidavit ballots remain uncounted.
The final unofficial tally has Turner at 422 votes to Stewart’s 402. A total of 208 absentee and affidavit votes were been cast between the three precincts. Twenty-one affidavit ballots remain uncounted. Election officials expect to have final official results Wednesday morning.
Absentee votes helped Stewart gain enough ground in the May 7 primary to force the run-off.
