STARKVILLE — The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department is asking for help in locating those responsible for a rash of auto burglaries.
Numerous break-ins were reported to the sheriff’s department Tuesday morning. Chief deputy Chadd Garnett said that all of the vehicles were unlocked.
The break-ins occurred west of Starkville, near the New Light Road area.
Garnett encouraged citizens to lock their vehicles at all times.
“Through the holiday season we are suggesting that people lock their doors, even under carports,” he said.
He added that the burglars are bypassing locked vehicles.
“If it’s unlocked they go in, if it’s locked they pass it up,” he said.
The department is investigating leads, but asked that anyone with information call 662-323-2421. You can also call the Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at 1800-531-7151 or visit the OCSD website at http://sheriff.oktibbeha.ms.us/
