JACKSON – Friday, May 04, 2012 – The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) would like to inform motorists about a closure on US Highway 82 in Lowndes County.
All eastbound lanes of US Highway 82 at Old West Point Road Bridge have been closed due to an accident involving a truck which hit a bridge beam. It may take up to three hours for emergency crews to remove the beam from the roadway so that it can be reopened to traffic.
MDOT will update motorists as information becomes available.
MDOT regrets any inconveniences this closure may cause. Traffic delays in this area could occur, and alternate routes should be considered.
